My son gets zapped every time we go to the park. He won’t even go on the slides anymore. What’s the point?

Karen K., Portland OR
My grandchildren were traumatized by these hazardous and barbaric torture tubes. Years of therapy wasted.
Replacement Solutions
We are fighting for every plastic slide in the United States to be replaced with high-quality, low-cost food grade stainless-steel. But what about burns, you ask? You may be surprised to find that even plastic slides can burn children on a sunny day, when in direct sunlight. The solution is to eliminate direct sunlight on playgrounds across the U.S. using playground shade structures such as canopies and even natural trees to prevent thermal burns.
Recycling Program
New studies find that plastic waste can be turned into sand for use in concrete. We propose that all plastic slides be recycled into finely milled sand replacement for use in concrete mixes. This plastic slide recycling program will not only help to rid the world of playground static for good, but it will also be an eco-friendly solution to the worldwide sand shortage and help to pave our sidewalks and create new buildings for future generations to enjoy for years to come.
Park Funding
The revenue for parks and recreation comes primarily from property taxes. Parks and recreation funding is allocated by elected officials and therefore influenced by local politics and the engagement of citizens in the budget process. We play an important role in ensuring consistent funding for parks year to year. Sign our petition to become an advocate of child safety and public funding for parks.
